World Camp Exchange - What, How, and Why, plus guidelines for membership.

WHAT we do:

The purpose of the World Camp Exchange is to promote collaboration among people around the world who plan and run camp-style bleeding disorders programs to foster excellence and innovation in their programs.

HOW we do it:

  1. Facilitate networking among international bleeding disorders program organizations to promote the sharing of information and ideas.

  2. Facilitate collaboration among network members in the planning and operation of existing and new camp-style programs.

  3. Facilitate the exchange of program resources and staff among network members.

WHY we do it:

  1. People with bleeding disorders need education (about their disorders), care for their disorders (medicine and doctors), support (to help live with the effects of their disorders), and advocacy (the ability to make sure they have these things) to live healthy and productive lives. Community programs are one way to meet these needs, and by supporting those who plan/run such programs we hope to help make our community more self-reliant and successful over the long run.

Who can be a WCE network member?

  1. Membership is open to people who plan/run bleeding disorders community programs on a paid or volunteer basis.

  2. People who want to be members must complete an application survey and be approved by current network members.

  3. Members must participate regularly in network activities.

The Ziggy Stick

The Ziggy Stick is an adaptation of the traditional talking stick activity and a way to bring people together to share the joys, hopes, and memories of campers both present and past. Inspired by Donald “Ziggy” Douglas, this activity is free to bleeding disorder youth, teen, adult, and family camp programs in North America.
